24 Hours of Reality: Local Impacts, Local Issues

We'll experience 24 Hours of Reality covering basic climate science, global issues and impacts, and the strides we're making in renewable energy. Then we'll zoom in on a more local level and talk about the challenges we're facing in our coastal state and in our own communities. We'll offer a primer on projects and initiatives close to home like Tacoma LNG and our proposed regional clean fuel standard as well as how local groups are mobilizing to make a difference. You'll emerge with a better handle on the climate crisis, how it affects you, and how you can take action right now.

This presentation is part of a larger event featuring at least three differently themed 24 Hours of Reality presentations for all ages happening simultaneously in one location. Choose the presentation that speaks to you! Then we'll all gather together to learn about how students from Jason Lee Middle School are doing their part to act on climate. We'll hear from the students themselves how they applied for and won a $50,000 grant from Tacoma Public Utilities to put toward their school's $200,000 rooftop solar project: Watts Up! When complete, theirs will be the second largest solar array in Tacoma, outpaced only by the array atop the Tacoma Public Utilities building.
