Summary:

A funding cut to a summer lunch program for youth motivated longtime Tacoma resident Cinnamon Rosa to start her own lunch program. Driven at first to alleviate hunger, Cinnamon’s vision quickly grew through her constant outreach, bringing in new partners and new ideas. Now in its second year, she is expanding her activities to fight food insecurity, using a community-first approach that addressed deeper social and equity issues. This is part one of a three-part series to learn Cinnamon’s story and how her volunteer-led organization The Village Keepers is aligning with the work of the Just and Healthy Food System Community of Interest.
